This week is National Skills Week.
Kicking off today and concluding on Sunday, National Skills Week aims to “showcase examples of the many pathways to success and to dispel some of the outdated myths often associated with vocational training.”
According to the National Skills Week official website, its objectives include but are not limited to: celebrating vocational qualifications and shining a spotlight on the achievement of practical learners nationwide, highlighting the talent and skills of apprentices to the wider public and employers, celebrating vocational qualifications taken by people of all ages and levels, showcasing and profiling RTOs and trade schools, highlighting the range of apprentices available in different sectors, and engaging and persuading employers of the advantages of employing apprentices.
The website also states that National Skills Week is supported by the State and Territory Governments and is an initiative of SkillsOne Television. SkillsOne was launched a decade ago and works with industry, educators, governments and TAFE to promote the extensive career opportunities that vocational training can provide. The website states that the SkillsOne website provides “a rich tapestry of information about trades and skills 24/7.” The HVAC&R industry is one of those trades and there is a dedicated HVAC&R page containing information and multiple videos on the industry.
National Skills Week is now in its seventh year, with this year’s theme being “More Than You Know”, and multiple events will be held this week across the country to mark the occasion. More information can be found here.
