Ian Harwood has been elected as AIRAH President as Ania Hampton steps down due to ill health.
According to AIRAH’s media release, a special meeting was called after Hampton had to reluctantly step down from the position due to a diagnosis of Ross River Fever.
According to the media release, Harwood has been an AIRAH member for over a decade and has served as AIRAH WA Committee President, as well as an interim AIRAH Board member in 2015. He also has 22 years of experience in the building services industry and is currently an Associate Director with Norman Disney & Young.
AIRAH CEO, Tony Gleeson emphasised how Harwood’s experience and knowledge of the industry will benefit AIRAH.
“Having worked with Ian over the past 12 months, I’ve seen the passion, experience and strategic nous he brings to the board. I have no doubt his energy, ideas and oversight will serve him and AIRAH well as he assumes this essential role.”
Gleeson also expressed his gratitude and emphasised the achievements by Hampton in her role as AIRAH’s first female president.
“AIRAH owes Ania a debt of gratitude for her commitment, competence and enthusiasm she brought to the role, especially in the sponsorship of the new website and membership platform, and the introduction of the Women of AIRAH initiative.”
According to the media release, Harwood says that there are changes afoot in the HVAC&R industry affecting people management, design and construction methodologies, sustainability best practices, controls and documentation practices.
